The mountainside Kobau Vineyard has long been renowned for its Syrah. The small 4.5-acre block was first planted in 2005 and has become a singular expression of Golden Mile Bench Syrah. This shows the exceptional balance and purity of the 2020 vintage, with rich, expressive blackberry and spiced plum fruit that’s lifted by fragrant lavender and white pepper. It continually evolves in the glass, revealing captivating layers of black olive, cured meat, bay leaf, and sage that are framed by integrated oak. Mouth-coating and impressively concentrated, with fine, polished tannins, this has the structure to easily improve over the next 4-6 years with careful cellaring.
