Your Wine Society selection

Four wines. Two countries. A journey from the Okanagan Valley to Sonoma.

A note before you pour

Distinctive places, independent producers and wines with a clear sense of identity

This special selection brings together two generations of British Columbia wine — a beautifully evolved aromatic white and library Pinot Noir — alongside the freshness of the newest Okanagan vintage and a small-production Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma Valley.

Together, the four bottles explore what we love most about North American wine: distinctive places, independent producers and wines made with a clear sense of identity.

About the winery

Meyer Family Vineyards has built its reputation around small-lot, site-driven wines from the Okanagan Valley, with particular attention to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

The fruit for this Gewürztraminer came from vines planted in the 1990s and received an unusual level of attention for the variety, including native fermentation and extended lees contact.

More than a decade after harvest, the 2016 offers a rare look at how carefully made Okanagan Gewürztraminer can develop in bottle.

2014 50th Parallel Estate Pinot Noir

Lake Country · Okanagan Valley, BC
Tasting note

Medium garnet in the glass, with aromas of ripe red cherry, raspberry and red plum layered with subtle smoke, vanilla, herbs and warm spice.

The palate is silky and composed, with cherry and raspberry supported by fine tannins and lively acidity. More than a decade in bottle has softened the wine's youthful edges and brought greater integration, allowing savoury notes, gentle earthiness and spice to emerge through the finish.

Elegant rather than heavy, this is mature Okanagan Pinot Noir at a fascinating stage of its evolution.

Delicate in colour but wonderfully expressive, this Rosé opens with aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry and watermelon, followed by rose petal, citrus blossom and fresh herbs.

The palate is dry, bright and refreshing, with juicy red berries, pink grapefruit and white peach carried by crisp acidity. A subtle mineral edge provides definition before a clean, elegant finish of red fruit and citrus zest.

2024 Reclamación Cabernet Sauvignon

2024 Reclamación Cabernet Sauvignon

Wheeler Vineyard · Sonoma Valley, California
Tasting note

Deep ruby in the glass, with aromas of blackcurrant and dark cherry layered with dried herbs, graphite and subtle earth.

The palate is structured without feeling heavy. Black plum and dark berry fruit meet cedar and savoury herbal notes, framed by firm but polished tannins.

Sixteen months in neutral French oak allows the fruit and vineyard character to remain at the forefront rather than introducing pronounced new-oak flavours.

The finish is long, composed and quietly elegant — a fresher, more restrained interpretation of California Cabernet Sauvignon.

About the winery

Reclamación was founded by owner and winemaker David Salazar, who grew up among the vineyards of southern Monterey County. His connection to wine is rooted in the agricultural communities around him and the generations of Mexican and Mexican-American vineyard workers whose knowledge and labour helped shape California wine country.

The Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Wheeler Vineyard in Sonoma Valley. Harvested in October 2024, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation and spent 16 months in neutral French oak before bottling.

With only 50 bottles produced, this is an exceptionally small-production expression of Sonoma Cabernet and a compelling example of a new generation adding its voice to California wine.

Together, these four wines tell a story about North American wine

The 2016 Meyer Family Gewürztraminer begins in the Okanagan with an aromatic white transformed by time — floral and expressive, yet now showing the deeper citrus, stone-fruit and spice notes that emerge with bottle age.

The 2014 50th Parallel Estate Pinot Noir takes that idea of evolution further. More than a decade after harvest, its red fruit, acidity and fine tannins have settled into a graceful expression of mature Okanagan Pinot Noir.

Then comes the 2025 Winemaker's CUT Rosé — the youngest wine of the collection and a complete change of pace. Bright, dry and vibrant, it captures the immediacy of a new Okanagan vintage through fresh berries, citrus and crisp acidity.

Finally, Reclamación Cabernet Sauvignon takes the collection south to Sonoma Valley. Darker, structured and savoury, it brings together California Cabernet with restrained winemaking and the perspective of Mexican-American winemaker David Salazar.
