POUYA WINERY

Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico

Fernanda Parra is a Baja native who received her M.S. in enology, ampelology and viticulture after attending university in Montpellier, France. She started her wine career working at the lab at Tenuta Rapitalà in Sicily and then worked as a cellar intern at Domaine La Croix Montjoie in Burgundy. Eventually she returned to work alongside Camillo Magoni as his assistant winemaker at the Magoni Estate. Pouya is a project that reflects the culmination of years of training and hard work combined with the desire to participate in the expression of her heritage and love for Baja's terroir. The name Pouya is an homage to her great grandfather, a French scientist that fell in love with Baja.

Fernanda is making natural wines with no additions or corrections. While the wines are clear to the naked eye, they do not undergo filtration or stabilization. Only minimal sulfites are added at bottling - 30 ppm.

Valle de Guadalupe – Olegario Sandoval Vineyards planted in the 1950s near the end of the region of the Valle that is under vine approximately 15 miles from the Pacific. The vines are old and gnarled in this dry farmed site that has the sandy soils needed to generate grapes with very little pigment in the skins. From this site Fernanda makes Grenache three ways: Methode Champenoise Sparkling, Rosé and Red (Tinto), to illustrate the diversity of potential of the grapes from this ancient vineyard.

2022 POUYA ROSÉ

Salmon hued, floral and kissed with the aromatics of fresh honeycomb, this wine is light bodied, completely dry and composed of a lovely rounded texture that is spiraled around a beautiful vein of refreshing acidity.

PHANTOM CREEK ESTATE WINERY

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada

Phantom Creek, a staggeringly impressive $100 million estate is quickly making a name for itself in the North American wine scene. As the descendent to one of the most iconic family names in Napa Valley Wine history since 1875, and great-great grandson of Beringer Vineyards, Director or Wine, Mark Berringer was immersed in wine from the moment he was born in the heart of Napa Valley. He now brings his abundant set of attributes to Phantom Creek.

Winemaking & Harvest - From sampling each individual block to meticulously hand-harvesting each cluster, our goal is to ensure fruit is brought into the winery at optimal ripeness. We pick earlier than most, a crucial step to retaining freshness and achieving balance once bottled.

Winemaking & Winery - Our red wines are first hand sorted, then optically sorted; each berry must meet our standards before it's pressed and fermented in Rousseau oak casks and small French oak barriques. Our whites are pressed whole cluster, wild fermented in custom Stockinger oak casks. Our goal with every one of our wines is to achieve optimal texture, layers of complexity, and integration with oak.

2020 PHANTOM CREEK KOBAU SYRAH

The mountainside Kobau Vineyard has long been renowned for its Syrah. The small 4.5-acre block was first planted in 2005 and has become a singular expression of Golden Mile Bench Syrah. This shows the exceptional balance and purity of the 2020 vintage, with rich, expressive blackberry and spiced plum fruit that’s lifted by fragrant lavender and white pepper. It continually evolves in the glass, revealing captivating layers of black olive, cured meat, bay leaf, and sage that are framed by integrated oak.

Mouth-coating and impressively concentrated, with fine, polished tannins, this has the structure to easily improve over the next 4-6 years with careful cellaring. Alcohol 15.2%. Maturation 22 months in French oak, 50% new. Aging Potential 4-6 years, 100% Syrah.
