Tasting Notes

A vibrant medium-ruby red, this Cabernet Franc opens with ripe blueberry, black tea, and eucalyptus aromas. On the palate, tart cranberry and Bing cherry shine through, accented by subtle cedar and earthy herbal undertones. Bold yet refined tannins and fresh acidity lead to a long, balanced finish—displaying classic Bordeaux-style elegance with Okanagan clarity.

Winemaker Notes

Aromas

  • Ripe blueberry, eucalyptus, and black tea

  • Whisper of cedar and forest floor

Palate

  • Tart cranberry, Bing cherry, herbaceous sage and thyme

  • Medium-bodied with bold yet polished tannins

Finish

  • Long, fresh, and balanced

  • Subtle oak interplay with clean herbal notes

This wine is produced using traditional Bordeaux methods—hand-harvested fruit, two-day cold soak, malolactic fermentation in barrel, and aged for 21 months in 30% new French oak (with 2–3-year-old barrels) before an additional 12 months in bottle.

Food Pairing Suggestions

Pairs beautifully with herb-crusted lamb, mushroom risotto, pork tenderloin with balsamic glaze, and aged cheeses. Its earthy, herbal character shines alongside rosemary, thyme, or tarragon-accented dishes.

Why We Love It

Poplar Grove’s 2020 Cabernet Franc is a true representation of Okanagan terroir—structured, expressive, and refined. With its Bordeaux-inspired winemaking and bold fruit profile, it appeals to both collectors and dinner hosts. It’s a wine that offers immediate pleasure yet rewards cellaring, marking itself as a versatile standout in any wine lineup.

About Kascadia

North American wines, including those from Canada, the United States, and Mexico, have risen to the top of the list when it comes to the world's "new world" wines. These regions have rapidly established themselves as producers of exceptional quality and diverse varietals, challenging the long-held dominance of classic Old World wine regions like France, Italy, and Spain.
