VARIETAL:  Fortified Walnut Wine

REGION: Fraser Valley, BC

COUNTRY: Canada

VINTAGE: 2007

ALCOHOL: 17%

BOTTLE SIZE: 500 mL

This is a unique and rich dessert-style wine with an aromatic nose of toasted walnuts, caramel, vanilla, and warm spices like cinnamon and clove, along with subtle hints of dried fruit. On the palate, it is smooth and velvety, featuring prominent roasted walnut flavors balanced by caramelized sugar, toffee, and dried fruit undertones. Its higher alcohol content adds warmth, while the long, nutty finish offers a pleasant sweetness.

Vista D'Oro's 2007 Fortified Walnut Wine is an artisanal, port-style wine that reflects the winery's dedication to traditional winemaking methods. The production process involves blending estate-grown grapes—Maréchal Foch and Merlot—with green walnuts harvested from the property's century-old trees and British Columbia brandy. This blend is aged for eight years in French and American oak barrels, resulting in a complex flavor profile that includes notes of raisin sweetness, earthy walnuts, wood, and a rich, port-like sweetness.

Food Pairing: This fortified wine is perfect for sipping on its own or pairing with chocolate, nut-based pastries, blue cheese, aged cheddar, dried fruits, or pâté, making it a standout choice for those seeking a blend of nutty, sweet, and warm flavors

About Kascadia

North American wines, including those from Canada, the United States, and Mexico, have risen to the top of the list when it comes to the world's "new world" wines. These regions have rapidly established themselves as producers of exceptional quality and diverse varietals, challenging the long-held dominance of classic Old World wine regions like France, Italy, and Spain.
