Tasting Notes

The 2022 Matthiasson Rosé delivers the crisp freshness and minerality of a classic Provençal rosé, with the signature vibrancy of California fruit. Light salmon in color, this rosé bursts with strawberry, white cherry, watermelon rind, and pink grapefruit, carried by refreshing acidity and a hint of saline minerality. The finish is bone dry and delicately herbal.

Winemaker Notes

Aromas

  • Wild strawberry, rose petal, citrus zest, and thyme blossom

Palate

  • Lively and layered with tart raspberry, ruby red grapefruit, and watermelon, supported by crisp acidity and a chalky mineral texture

Finish

  • Dry, clean, and refreshingly herbal with a whisper of white pepper and crushed seashells

Crafted by Steve Matthiasson—renowned for his sustainable viticulture and minimalist approach—this rosé is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Counoise from organically farmed vineyards. It’s fermented at cool temperatures to retain aromatics and bottled early to preserve freshness.

Food Pairing Suggestions

This dry rosé is built for the table, perfect with:

  • Niçoise salad or grilled tuna steaks

  • Summer tomato and burrata with basil

  • Herbed goat cheese tartlets or crudités with aioli

  • Spicy Mediterranean mezze or tabbouleh

  • Roast chicken with lemon and thyme

The wine’s zippy acidity and savory edge make it a beautiful match for dishes with fresh herbs, citrus, and seasonal vegetables.

Why We Love It

The 2022 Matthiasson Rosé is everything we love in a pink wine: thoughtfully farmed, beautifully balanced, and seriously drinkable. It proves that rosé can be both elegant and expressive—not just a summertime sipper, but a wine with a strong sense of place. We admire Matthiasson’s commitment to sustainable practices, and this rosé reflects that ethos in every glass.

About Kascadia

North American wines, including those from Canada, the United States, and Mexico, have risen to the top of the list when it comes to the world's "new world" wines. These regions have rapidly established themselves as producers of exceptional quality and diverse varietals, challenging the long-held dominance of classic Old World wine regions like France, Italy, and Spain.
