Rosewood Winery & Meadery

Rosewood Winery & Meadery is Niagara’s original wine and honey estate, a family-run farm rooted in the Beamsville Bench. The winery represents more than 20 years of sustainable farming and winemaking, built on an extraordinary 92-year beekeeping heritage.

Founded by Eugene and Renata Roman, Rosewood began with a promise made during their honeymoon in Niagara-on-the-Lake in 1982—to one day open a winery together. Nearly two decades later, that promise became reality when they purchased vineyard land on the Beamsville Bench and began building what is now one of Niagara’s most distinctive farm wineries.

Today, Rosewood continues to combine sustainable viticulture, innovative winemaking, and the influence of their working apiary, crafting expressive wines that reflect the unique soils and seasonal rhythms of Niagara.

Winemaker

Doug Mackenzie

Doug’s passion for winemaking began early, inspired by his farming background and fascination with science. A graduate of the Food & Wine Institute at Niagara College, Doug has worked in the Niagara wine industry across more than 10 vintages, gaining experience in vineyard management and cellar operations at several leading wineries.

Joining Rosewood as Assistant Winemaker in 2021, Doug plays a key role in shaping the estate’s wines, focusing on balanced, vintage-driven wines that tell the story of place, soil, and season.

Our Vineyard

At Rosewood, everything begins with the soil.

Through thoughtful farming practices that nurture soil ecology, the vineyard encourages vines to absorb unique trace minerals that give Rosewood wines their structure, complexity, and sense of place. Each vintage reflects Niagara’s dynamic climate—no two seasons are alike—resulting in wines that authentically capture a moment in time on the Beamsville Bench.
