Tasting Notes
A bold yet refined expression of 2021 Tinta Alta, this Tempranillo-led blend opens with dark cherry, blood orange, and a subtle lift of bay laurel. The palate is full-bodied and structured, layered with ripe red fruit, floral undertones, and vibrant energy. Smooth, juicy tannins carry the wine through a long, fresh finish, balancing richness with lift and precision.

Palate
Ripe red berries, floral notes, and a core of vibrant acidity
Full-bodied with firm structure and polished tannins

Long, fresh, and energetic with elegant lift
Winemaker Notes
100% destemmed Tempranillo fermented with native yeast in stainless steel open-top tanks. Gentle cap management (2–3 punch downs daily) over 18–21 days of skin contact ensures balance and extraction.
Pressed, settled for 48 hours, then racked to barrel for 22 months of élevage in 20% new French oak (Cadus, Orion, Taransaud).
Food Pairing Suggestions
Ideal with grilled lamb, BBQ short ribs, wood-fired vegetables, paella, or charcuterie boards. Also pairs beautifully with smoky, spice-driven dishes and aged Manchego-style cheeses.
Why We Love It
What makes Tinta Alta particularly interesting is that it spans terroirs from the Sierra Nevada foothills to California's Central Coast, combining:
- Volcanic mountain-grown fruit from Napa and Amador for structure and depth.
- Paso Robles fruit for richness, spice, and concentration.
- Monterey fruit for freshness, acidity, and aromatic lift.
The 2021 Tinta Alta is sourced from five distinguished vineyard sites across California, including Stagecoach Vineyard in Napa Valley, Shake Ridge Ranch in Amador County, Caelesta and Catapult Vineyards in Paso Robles, and Pierce Ranch Vineyards in Monterey County. This multi-regional blend captures the diversity of California terroir, combining mountain-grown intensity, coastal freshness, and exceptional depth of character.
