British Columbia's Natural Wines

We've carefully selected Clos Du Soleil and Winemaker's CUT Winery for wine lovers that are enthusiastic about minimal-interventionist winemaking, and organic and biodynamic viticulture. Three wines that will take you on a sojourn through British Columbia's Similkameen Valley, and working your way to the southern parts of the Okanagan Valley.

Both wineries are praised for both authenticity and elegance, and are consistently rated amongst the top in British Columbia,

The Similkameen Valley is a pristine stretch of vineyards, set amongst the dramatic backdrop of rugged and awe-inspiring mountains. Considered the ‘organic capital of Canada’, the area is known for small farms and producers dedicated to creating quality produce, delectable foods, and award-winning wines.

The Okanagan Valley, which is also known as the "fruit bowl" of Canada is where most of British Columbia wineries are located. Grape growing began here in 1806, but it was not until the early 1900's that the industry finally took hold. The Okanagan Valley is best characterized by a string of lakes created by glaciation. This glacial activity occurred during the Tertiary and Quaternary periods where mile-thick ice layers retreated 10,000 years ago, scraping the surface and leaving behind valuable sedimentary deposits along its borders. Additional mountain river erosion and
flooding left behind nutrient and mineral rich soils which today still form the foundation of the Okanagan’s successful agricultural economy.

 2018 Clos Du Soleil Signature

Similkameen Valley, British Columbia

The 2018 vintage is the product of a long, warm growing season and was perfect for producing this classically styled iconic wine. The taster is enveloped in heady aromas of ripe raspberry and blackberry, baking spices and floral notes. On the palate the wine is layered with flavours of black cherry, raspberry, cassis, mint and blackberry, with complex notes of graphite and sagebrush. The structure is soft and lush, with polished tannins and a long lingering finish. Enjoyable in its youth, the balance and structure of this wine will ensure its ability to age for many years. 14.6% Alcohol.

After a gentle pressing the wines were aged for 16 months in 100% French oak barrels. Only the barrels showing the greatest complexity, depth and elegance were selected for our Signature blend. Simplicity and a light hand in the winery have allowed us to deliver a wine which speaks of the beauty of our land.
